Children’s Fishing Derby at Miller Park……THIS WAS A GREAT SUCCESS. We had great weather and a huge turnout of kids, over 300 participated this year. It appeared that most children caught fish, some caught quite a few, most were in the 1 -2 pound range, but several topped five pounds. Pictures taken at this years event are now posted on this web site. This event was sponsored by the following:
McLean County Sportsmen’s Association
Bloomington Parks and Recreation
State Farm Foundation
Illinois Dept. of Natural Resources
VFW Post 454 in Bloomington
The Pantagraph
This was a great opportunity for the children to learn the basic skill of fishing and the best thing was that that weekend was free fishing in the state of Illinois, NO LICENSE WAS REQUIRED, so alot of parents were able to assist without needing a license.
